Magic Of Juvederm

Juvederm Henderson NV Marielaina Perrone DDS
Juvederm – Before And After

The active ingredient of Juvederm is hyaluronic acid. The hyaluronic acid works by adding volume to the facial tissues being targeted. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally found substance in the human body. It stimulates the production of collagen that plumps the skin. As we age, the production of hyaluronic acid and collagen naturally decreases. With a decrease in hyaluronic acid and collagen production it leads to sagging and wrinkling of the skin.

During the Juvederm procedure, your doctor will then inject Juvederm into the target area that needs volume. They will also lightly massage the area. This will ensure an even distribution and reduce the chance of swelling following injection. The entire procedure usually takes between 15 and 60 minutes, depending on the amount of area treated on the face.

Juvederm injections contain a small amount of the anesthetic lidocaine. This will help make the injection of Juvederm dermal fillers more comfortable for you during the procedure and afterwards.

Recovery time is generally very quick. However, people are advised to avoid strenuous physical activity, exposure to the sun, wearing makeup, and drinking alcohol for about 24 hours following Juvederm treatment.

Most patients can see the effects of Juvederm right away. There may be some swelling following Juvederm application whicj may mask results until swelling goes down. Results from Juvederm treatment typically lasts between 3-6 months and sometimes longer depending on the area being treated. Current research has shown that hyaluronic acid injections may stimulate collagen production, leading to fresher-looking skin over the long term.

Comprehensive dental care is when a dentist provides a full range of dental health services for diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, and rehabilitation of a patients smile. This will include thinking about not only a person’s smile as a singular item. It will include a person’s functional health as well as facial esthetics.

“We believe in a comprehensive dental care approach to restorative and cosmetic dentistry, that fully integrates health, comfort, and beauty.” – Marielaina Perrone DDS

The human body acts as a complex group of systems and never acts in isolation. In comprehensive dental care, it is very similar in how we look at the patient and their smile. The teeth may be the focus of our smiles but they do not work in isolation either. In comprehensive dental care, we look at the soft tissues as well as the hard tissues to create a treatment plan that is personalized for you. This can and will include the TMJ joint, the muscles of the face, and how the teeth fit together (also called occlusion). Often times, a deeper dental examination Comprehensive Dental Care Las Vegas Marielaina Perrone DDSwill reveal issues with the occlusion or over active muscles. This can show as uneven wear of the teeth which can be due to genetic issues or stress. A comprehensive dental care examination will reveal these deeper functional flaws that can affect the cosmetics of your smile.

Comprehensive Dental Care Personalized

A well trained dentist with comprehensive dental care experience will know to look beyond the issue at hand and ask why did that happen? If we examine the smile in a comprehensive dental care way of looking at things, we realize a tooth extraction is not a singular event. Once that tooth is removed, there will be changes to our occlusion as well as our esthetics. This can have long term implications to a person’s overall dental health. Treating “just one tooth” is often not the best interest for your long term dental health. Below are some dental procedures that are included in comprehensive dental care to treat function and cosmetics as one:

Porcelain Crowns. This type of dental crown combines strength and beauty into one package. Porcelain crowns have the esthetics patients desire for their smile but the strength demanded by patients and dentists for function. When porcelain crowns are used properly, a patient will begin to see an immediate improvement in their occlusion and in the cosmetic appearance in the skin around the face as wrinkles will lessen. The wrinkles will lessen because the occlusion will be “raised” forcing the skin around the mouth to stretch slightly. Using dental crowns for this purpose is called bite reclamation.

Porcelain Veneers. Known as part of the Hollywood smile. Porcelain veneers are sometimes referred to as “instant orthodontics” because they have the ability to realign teeth vs wearing orthodontic braces. Porcelain veneers are more conservative than porcelain crowns and are purely cosmetic in nature and cannot be used to reclaim lost occlusion height.

Dental Implants. Dental implants are highly successful for replacing one or more teeth. These would be an integral part of comprehensive dental care especially for larger scale smile restorations.

Orthodontic Braces Or Invisalign. Many people see orthodontics or invisalign as a purely cosmetic treatment for adults. However, in comprehensive dental care your dentist will see that re aligning the bite will result in straighter teeth but it will also bring those teeth into harmony with one another. This will place less stress on the teeth thru their daily functions as well.

Tooth Bonding. can be used to repair a tooth damaged by trauma or tooth decay. These tooth colored restorations can make an immediate improvement to your smile.

Facial Asymmetry. In comprehensive dental care, your well trained dentist will evaluate not just the smile but also the entire face. By looking beyond the smile, they may be able to see certain asymmetry’s in the alignment of your face. The use of botox can be used to balance the facial muscles and bring them into harmony with your smile. An eyebrow lift or aComprehensive Dental Care Marielaina Perrone DDS depression of the brow can also be enhanced using botox applications.

Gummy SmileThis occurs when too much gum tissue is exposed upon smiling. This usually is the result of the lip rising too high when smiling. Injecting Botox into the upper lip weakens the retractor muscles of the upper lip so that it won’t raise as high and your smile will appear better balanced. In comprehensive dental care, your dentist will see this immediately and factor this into your treatment plan.

Crown Lengthening. This is a comprehensive dental care surgical process whereby your dentist will remove bone around a tooth to expose more of the tooth into the mouth. This is often needed in patients with a severe grinding issues to reclaim lost occlusal height.

Gum and Bone Grafting and Recontouring. Both gum tissues and bone tissues can be grafted in to replace lost tissues in comprehensive dental care. These have both functional and esthetic concerns. Functionally, adding more bone will aid in support of teeth and adding gingival tissues can cover exposed roots alleviating tooth sensitivity and stop tooth decay from forming on the roots of your teeth. Cosmetically, these grafts can restore your smile to its youthful glory.

Teeth Whitening. Many of our worn teeth are also dark and discolored. The color you desire to reach may require a dental whitening process, or simply a whiter color bonding restoration or a whiter colored porcelain restoration. Teeth whitening is included in comprehensive dental care because it will be usually a priority for most patients when trying to rejuvenate their smiles.

Juvederm Dermal Fillers. These fillers can be used to turn back the clock and fill in areas that time has changed. Again bringing about a balance between function and smile is a hallmark of comprehensive dental care.

Comprehensive Dental Care Conclusion

A dentist who is well trained in comprehensive dental care will be able to spot problem areas quite easily. Some areas are hidden but a deeper look during a dental examination and they will be revealed. Some issues will not have longer term implications while others may. It is important to recognize the difference between the two so the proper recommendations can be made to the patient.

Gummy smile is a smile that shows an excessive amount of gum tissues under the upper lip. The goal is to create a more toothy smile. There several treatment options for those with a gummy smile. Some surgical and some non surgical. The presence of a gummy smile should not be considered an abnormal condition or even unhealthy. It is just a normal variation of our anatomy. This does not stop those with a gummy smile from feeling self conscious in the way they smile. This may cause them to refrain from wide smiles.

What Is A Gummy Smile?

A gummy smile will make our teeth look short and stumpy. In reality, the gum tissue is just showing in proportion to your teeth than the rest of us. There are a variety of reasons for this. These can include:

Gummy Smile Las Vegas Marielaina Perrone DDS-Higher than normal bone levels.

-Possibility of Incomplete Eruption Of Teeth.

-Excess Gingival Tissues.

-Abnormally Thick Gingival Fibers.

-Thin lips.

-Upper Lip pulls up too high while smiling.

The gummy smile may present challenges beyond esthetics. Dental hygiene can be a real issues for the patients with excess tissue. This can lead to increased incidence of tooth decay as well periodontal disease development. The excessive gingival tissues will hinder attempts to keep areas clean and free of plaque and tartar. People with a gummy smile tend to present with puffy, red gum tissues. This is called gingivitis and is the earliest form of periodontal disease. It is reversible. Another note, is that most people notice a gummy smile only on front teeth but it can be present on back teeth as well.

Treatment For A Gummy Smile

An experienced, well trained cosmetic dentist will be well versed in treatment for a gummy smile. In fact, the gummy smile procedure can be one of the most rewarding for both dentist and patient alike. The change is immediate and patients report increased self confidence and ability to interact socially better than before.

Below you will find detailed list of gummy smile treatment options. The procedure used will depend on why the gummy smile exists.

Surgical Treatment Of Gummy Smile

Gingivectomy (another term is gingivoplasty which includes gum contouring). This dental procedure is simply removal of excess gingival tissue from around the teeth. Removing excess gingival tissue is just the first step. Your cosmetic dentist will remove and reshape the tissues for an esthetic result. You would be surprised how little gingival tissue is actually removed in most cases. Your dentist a laser, an electrical cautery unit, or make periodontal incisions to remove and reshape the gum tissues. Local anesthetic is necessary during gummy smile procedure for comfort. This gummy smile treatment will not require any sutures and generally the gum tissues heal within 1-2 weeks following the procedure. A gingivectomy is usually the recommended gummy smile procedure when only a few teeth are affected by the gummy smile issue. In other cases, bone tissues may need to be remodeled as well.

-Crown Lengthening. This gummy smile procedure allows for your dentist to remove bone tissues as well as gum tissues. This procedure can be a bit more advanced in technique but still fairly easy for most periodontists.

Non-Surgical Treatment Of Gummy Smile

Botox For Gummy Smile. The use of Botox is fairly new for treatment of gummy smile. The botox application relaxes the muscles (levator) in the upper lip causing the lip to not curl under or lift as high upon smiling. The botox relaxes the lip for a more balanced smile. This still allows you to smile, it just limits the height of the upper lip movement. The treatment lasts about 3 months so no worries about permanent changes.

Both surgical and non surgical procedures have very low risks and are easily completed. Obviously, the botox injections will be the least invasive but in some cases botox alone will not give the desired results. Using dermal fillers along with Botox may also help those with thinner lips.

Can A Gummy Smile Be Fixed? Conclusion

Upon healing, the results of a gummy smile treatment can be quite dramatic and striking. Both patient and Doctor alike will be in awe of the change. It is that dramatic generally. This treatment can be a real change for some in their outlook on life. Study after study has shown when we feel good about ourselves it changes how others perceive us opening doors socially and in business. Most patients return and have one complaint. Why didn’t we do this sooner? Don’t wait if this is an issue for you. See your dentist and talk over the best options for your smile.

“TAKE BACK YOUR YOUTH WITH THE COSMETIC BENEFITS OF BOTOX AND JUVEDERM” – Marielaina Perrone DDS

Botox Vs Juvederm Differences

Botox Cosmetic

Botox (or botox cosmetic) is a safe form of botulinum toxin A. This neurotoxin causes botulism. Once injected, botox cosmetic will paralyze the facial muscles in that area temporarily. This will prevent the muscles from creating deep wrinkles, crow’s feet around the eyes, or frown lines. Wrinkles occur in 3 different ways:

-lack of collagen in skin.

-changes at cellular level as we age.

-environmental changes like exposure to the sun.

Botox actually has many uses beyond a cosmetic one. These can include:

-treatment for excessive sweating.

-treatment of teeth clenching.

-treatment for overactive bladder.

treatment for chronic migraine pain.

-Temperomandibular Joint (TMJ) Disorder.

How Is A Botox Procedure Completed?

The botox cosmetic treatment is very quick and easy. It can be completed in as little as a few minutes and does not require anesthesia (but can use numbing cream or ice packs to lessen discomfort). An extremely fine needle is used to inject the botox cosmetic into the specific muscles. There will be slight discomfort from the botox injection. Most patients report it takes about a week for the full effects of the Botox cosmetic to take hold. The effects will last about 3-4 months. The lines will gradually return but with repeated treatments the muscles will start to train and wrinkles will be lessened. Temporary bruising in the area of injection is the most common side effect of botox cosmetic.

Juvederm

Juvederm is an FDA approved non surgical, minimally invasive dermal filler that is created with a synthetic hyaluronic acid (also called HA). Hyaluronic acid is a substance that is natural to our bodies, and it helps keep your skin healthy in a few ways:

-Essential nutrients

-Maintaining moisture by hydrating our skin

-Softening our skin

-Volumizing our skin

How Is A Juvederm Procedure Completed?

What Could I Expect from a Procedure?

Juvederm is a non-surgical, minimally invasive treatment performed right in our office. Juvederm is an injectable treatment that has the ability to reduce the appearance of unwanted lines and wrinkles. It is able to achieve this by restoring lost volume to the skin and lips. Juvederm (also called wrinkle fillers) can also be used as “volumizers,” plumping and lifting cheeks, chins, jawlines, and temples, and filling out thin lips. The injection is similar to Botox cosmetic but Juvederm contains a local anesthetic to reduce pain and discomfort. As a dentist we have the ability to numb your mouth area to reduce pain and discomfort further. Juvederm provides results up to a year. Side effects are rare but can include redness, swelling, and bruising at the injection site. Results from Juvederm can be seen almost immediately.

Botox Vs Juvederm – Which One Is Right For Me?

Botox Vs Juvederm is not the question as both can work side by side. Botox has the ability to make wrinkles disappear around the eyes, forehead, lengthening upper lip to remove gummy smile, and vertical lines around lips. Juvederm removes wrinkles in a different way by adding volume (dermal filler) to fill the lines from the nose to the lip, the lower face, outline the lips, and to fill the lips. There is no reason for a choice between botox vs juvederm as they do separate things. Juvederm is perfect for wrinkles that are present when your face is resting, whereas Botox is perfect for wrinkles that appear upon movement. Your dentist will be able to go into greater detail on what would be the right treatment for you based on your cosmetic appearance and your desires for treatment.
