Magic Of Juvederm

Juvederm Henderson NV Marielaina Perrone DDS
Juvederm – Before And After

The active ingredient of Juvederm is hyaluronic acid. The hyaluronic acid works by adding volume to the facial tissues being targeted. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally found substance in the human body. It stimulates the production of collagen that plumps the skin. As we age, the production of hyaluronic acid and collagen naturally decreases. With a decrease in hyaluronic acid and collagen production it leads to sagging and wrinkling of the skin.

During the Juvederm procedure, your doctor will then inject Juvederm into the target area that needs volume. They will also lightly massage the area. This will ensure an even distribution and reduce the chance of swelling following injection. The entire procedure usually takes between 15 and 60 minutes, depending on the amount of area treated on the face.

Juvederm injections contain a small amount of the anesthetic lidocaine. This will help make the injection of Juvederm dermal fillers more comfortable for you during the procedure and afterwards.

Recovery time is generally very quick. However, people are advised to avoid strenuous physical activity, exposure to the sun, wearing makeup, and drinking alcohol for about 24 hours following Juvederm treatment.

Most patients can see the effects of Juvederm right away. There may be some swelling following Juvederm application whicj may mask results until swelling goes down. Results from Juvederm treatment typically lasts between 3-6 months and sometimes longer depending on the area being treated. Current research has shown that hyaluronic acid injections may stimulate collagen production, leading to fresher-looking skin over the long term.

Marielaina Perrone DDS Orthodontics Vs Porcelain Veneers
Orthodontics Vs Porcelain Veneers

A well trained cosmetic dentist has a list of procedures to use to give you the smile you have always dreamed of. Many do not think of orthodontics as a cosmetic dentistry procedure. It is more than that, as it can not only change your smile but the function of your teeth as well as the way your face appears. Porcelain veneers can bring about a dramatic change but in a much shorter time period. Let’s discuss each and how they work for your smile.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are also referred to as “instant orthodontics”. The placement of porcelain veneers can correct small mis alignments in your teeth to bring them into better balance. Cosmetic dentistry is an art form and smiles can be recreated or they can be designed perfectly. Perfection is different for each patient. Some like having small gaps between their teeth or a tooth slightly out of alignment. Porcelain veneers work very well when cosmetic changes need to be made without the need for more invasive dental procedures. Porcelain veneers also work very well in conjunction with botox or a dermal filler like Juvederm. They can work hand in hand to improve your smile and overall appearance very quickly.

What Are Porcelain Veneers?

Porcelain Veneers Marielaina Perrone DDS
Natural Looking Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are wafer thin, custom fabricated shells of tooth-colored materials designed to cover the front surface of teeth to improve your smile. These porcelain shells are adhesively bonded to the front of the prepared teeth. Porcelain veneers have the ability to change the color, shape, size, or length of your teeth.

Porcelain veneers have the following characteristics:

Translucent qualities — Like natural tooth enamel, porcelain veneers are translucent. This means they allow some light to pass through and reflect off the natural dental material. This gives the veneer a natural depth, providing for a deep, dazzling smile.

Color matching — If you are replacing multiple teeth, then all your porcelain veneers can be a natural, bright color. When covering just one or two teeth, porcelain veneers can easily be matched to the surrounding natural teeth. This will provide a consistently natural, beautiful smile.

Non-porous surface — Porcelain veneers are ceramic glass and are non-porous, preventing future stains from ruining your new smile.

Patients with severely misaligned teeth are not good candidates for porcelain veneers. This will cause issues with preparation of teeth for porcelain veneers. A well trained cosmetic dentist will make every attempt to be quite conservative when removing natural, healthy tooth structure. If the teeth are too far out of alignment from one another, it means more tooth natural tooth structure will need to be removed to accomodate the spacing. Removing too much tooth structure can lead to tooth sensitivity and even nerve exposure. This could require the possibility of root canal therapy in the future. For teeth that are severely misaligned, invisalign or traditional orthodontics would be the better treatment option to bring your smile into proper alignment.

A major advantage to porcelain veneers vs orthodontics is that they give you the ability to change the color of your teeth. Your dentist can give you a bright, white smile almost instantly.

Orthodontics Braces

Marielaina Perrone DDS Orthodontics
Invisalign Clear Aligners

Orthodontics generally comes in 2 forms…..invisalign and traditional orthodontic braces. Both will achieve the same goal but in severe mis alignment cases your dentist may recommend traditional orthodontic braces as your treatment may require more extensive movements.

It is important to note when orthodontics is the recommended treatment it can also be for functional reasons and not just cosmetic. A well trained dentist will note issues with the way your teeth fit together or issues where you have a dental overbite or dental underbite.

This crowding or bite issue can lead to increased risk of tooth decay and periodontal disease as well as increased difficulty in chewing and speech issues. Orthodontic braces can fix that creating a smile that is in harmony not only cosmetically but functionally as well. This will lead to being able to maintain dental hygiene easier which will lead to longer tooth life.

Sample Orthodontics Treatment Schedule

Your initial consultaion will generally be a no cost orthodontics evaluation. In addition to the thorough visual examination, x rays and photographs will be taken of your smile as well as your face. There may be an additional charge for these. These x rays and photographs will help the dentist and orthodontist map out your treatment safely and effectively. At your initial consultation you will discuss with dentist or orthodontist why you are there. They will examine you and look at the following factors to develop a personalized orthodontic treatment plan that is right for you and your smile.

-What is the orthodontic issue that brings you in?

-Multiple orthodontic options to correct the problem or problems.

-Customized treatment goals that you wish to achieve.

-Will any teeth need to be removed to accomplish these goals?

-Whether other dental services are required prior to orthodontic treatment to bring your dental health to optimal levels.

-A rough estimate on the length of your orthodontic treatment

-Estimated cost of orthodontics for adults care.

Orthodontic Treatment

As mentioned previously, teeth are moved with controlled directional forces over time. Orthodontists use clear aligners (invisalign) or braces to guide and move your teeth into their ideal positions. The tooth movement occurs as the underlying bone is broken down and then rebuilt. If the process goes too fast the bone does not recover properly. Timing is critical for long term health. Following orthodontic treatment, you can expect to wear a retainer to maintain the movements you have gained while undergoing active orthodontic treatment.

Orthodontics Vs Porcelain Veneers Conclusion

Luckily, in the choice of orthodontics vs porcelain veneers there is enough separation between the 2 dental procedures that a decision can be made quite easily. Porcelain veneers tend to be a cosmetic procedure only with limited orthodontic advantages while orthodontics can and usually comes with functional advantages as well. Talk to your dentist about the options available to you to give you the smile you always dreamed of. A well educated patient is the best kind of patient as they will make informed decisions and ask questions before proceeding into any major dental treatment. As always see your dentist regularly for dental examinations and professional cleanings.

Snap On Smile Henderson NV Marielaina Perrone DDS
Snap On Smile Can Give You The Smile You Always Dreamed Of!

Snap on smile is another tool for a cosmetic dentist to change someone’s smile and therefore improve self esteem and confidence. It has long been known that how people feel about ourselves affects our outlook on life. Our smile is an important part of that equation. For many, time or finances may get in the way of doing comprehensive permanent dental work. That is where the snap on smile cosmetic procedure comes in.

What Is Snap On Smile?

Snap On Smile is an affordable and cosmetic removable dental appliance. This dental applaince requires no preparation or altering of exisiting tooth structure along with no injections and no adhesives. It is completely non-invasive, making it completely reversible at any time. The snap on smile can be a full or partial upper or lower arch (or even both). It just snaps in right over the patient’s existing teeth without impinging on the periodontal tissues or covering of the palate on top of the mouth. Patients are free to eat, drink and function normally without any limitations.

Snap-On Smile can also be used as a cosmetic temporary for implant restorations, for cosmetic removable partial dentures, and even for long term enhancement of an individual’s smile. Snap On Smile created from a patented (DenMat), super thin dental resin that will be custom fabricated to create an attractive, esthetic smile. The easy process required for these procedures is quick and painless, and costs less than dental bridges, porcelain veneers or dental implants. Snap On Smile Dental Visits

The snap on smile procedure is quite simple and quick. Creating a new smile using this cosmetic dentistry system only requires 2 visits.

  1. First visit would be for dental impressions. This will give the dentist and laboratory a model from which to create your new snap on smile.
  2. Generally in 2 weeks another dental appointment is scheduled to fit the newly fabricated snap on smile. There are usually little to no adjusting but it is possible to be needed. Snap On Smile Conclusion

A New Smile For You

It is important to remember this cosmetic dentistry procedure may not be the ideal cosmetic treatment for all dental patients. Discuss your needs and wants with your dentist. Together you can devise a treatment plan to achieve those goals for your smile. For many, this cosmetic dentistry procedure is an effective tool to meet those goals. Snap on smile can also be used additionally with Botox or Juvederm. This will allow your dentist to remove fine wrinkles to give you an altogether better enhancement to your overall appearance. It is important with any cosmetic treatment to maintain regular dental examinations and professional cleanings. This will help keep you periodontal disease free and your smile healthy.

Cosmetic dentistry deals with much more than just an esthetic result. A well trained cosmetic dentist will be just as concerned with function as well as cosmetics. Without proper function, any cosmetic dentistry will ultimately fail over the long term. Below will be some of the most common cosmetic dentistry procedures your dentist can perform to bring new life to your smile.

Common Cosmetic Dentistry Procedures

Cosmetic Teeth Whitening. Probably the most popular cosmetic dentistry procedure due to its quick results and relatively low cost. Teeth whitening can be performed at home by the patient or in the office by your cosmetic dentist. Your teeth have pores and anything we eat or drink that has color will absorb into those pores. Wine, coffee, dark berries, and smoking are the main culprits in staining our teeth. As we get older, the natural color of your teeth becomes darker and darker due to these stains. These stains will not go away without intervention by your cosmetic dentist. Not every patient will achieve the same cosmetic dentistry results, so it is very important to check with your dentist first to see what to expect.

Cosmetic Dentistry Henderson NV Marielaina Perrone DDSCosmetic Porcelain Veneers (or even composite veneers). Porcelain veneers are a thin shell of porcelain similar to a fingernail. They are custom made in a dental laboratory and cemented in place over your teeth to transform your smile. Porcelain veneers are sometimes called “instant orthodontics” in cosmetic dentistry because they have ability to realign slightly crooked teeth. Porcelain veneers also have the ability to change the color of your smile, repair chipped teeth, or close gaps between your teeth. This is a staple of cosmetic dentistry and a well trained cosmetic dentist can dramatically change your smile quickly.

Cosmetic Porcelain Crowns. These are custom fabricated to restore function and esthetics to your smile. Porcelain crowns are utilized in cosmetic dentistry by your cosmetic dentist to restore teeth that have been damaged to trauma, tooth decay, or to close gaps between teeth. All porcelain crowns are ideal to restore a front tooth as they are translucent and designed to look like your natural teeth.

Cosmetic Dental Implants. A dental implant is a titanium root structure designed to replace a missing tooth or teeth. A dental implant is surgically implanted into the jawbone where the tooth is missing. Unlike a dental bridge, a dental implant is permanent, this is because the dental implant becomes one with surrounding bone (process is called osseointegration). A dental implant is designed to act as the tooth root. Once integrated it can be used as a platform to replace a single tooth, multiple teeth, or even be support for a full denture. Dental implants are the closest you can get to a natural tooth in function. They give you the freedom to confidently eat, smile, laugh, talk, and enjoy all of your everyday activities without worrying about your smile. These can be used in cosmetic dentistry along with other procedures to restore your smile.

Cosmetic Teeth Recontouring. Also called tooth enamel shaping. A misshapen tooth can be lightly shaped by your cosmetic dentist in a painless procedure but it can have a dramatic effect on your smile. It is common to do this if you have protruding mamelons. A mamelon is a rounded protuberances which are present on the cutting edge of an incisor (front) tooth when it first erupts into the mouth. Generally, they wear away over time as we grow up but for some they need help in removing them.

Cosmetic Dental Bonding. Also called tooth bonding. Dental bonding is the cosmetic dentistry procedure in which tooth-colored materials are bonded to the tooth to repair tooth decay, repair a chipped tooth, or even close a gap between teeth.  These tooth colored materials are bonded using chemistry and a special light which hardens the material in seconds.

Cosmetic Orthodontic Braces. Adult orthodontics have become very popular in cosmetic dentistry especially with introduction of invisalign orthodontic system. Your cosmetic dentist can make small adjustments to one or a few teeth or a major overhaul using more traditional orthodontics treatment.

Cosmetic Dentistry Conclusion

Cosmetic dentistry can transform any smile but function is the key. Make sure you see a well trained dentist who knows that function trumps cosmetics. If a dental restoration is not functional it will not last and withstand the stresses of the mouth. Cosmetic dentistry can be what is missing from your smile. Ask your dentist today to transform your smile.
