Oral Surgery or extraction is the removal of a tooth from the mouth. Extractions are performed for many reasons, including tooth decay that has caused destruction of enough of the tooth to make the tooth unable to be restored. Wisdom Teeth extractions are routinely performed if they are impacted or infected, as are tooth extractions of some permanent teeth to make room for orthodontic treatment.
We welcome all children into our practice starting at the age of 1. The earliest visits will include education on caring for your new child's teeth as they erupt and the schedule at which tooth eruption will occur. Pediatric Dentistry covers kids of all ages from age 1 to 18.
Dr Perrone believes that Periodontal Disease Treatment should be treated in the least invasive and most cost effective way possible. Patients who are noted to have periodontal disease will be recommended for a deep cleaning (usually with anesthesia) along with the use of Arestin. Arestin is an antibiotic placed below the gumline and into the pocket to help facilitate healing. In most periodontal disease cases this is enough but we do offer further periodontal procedures if necessary to combat periodontal disease. This includes Emdogain (a bone and tissue growth factor), dental bone grafting, pocket reduction surgery, and crown lengthening procedures. We are also proud to offer Periogen (tartar dissolving oral rinse) which helps minimize tartar buildup between appointments.

Porcelain Inlays and Porcelain onlays can be made of laboratory cast porcelain or gold. These pieces are bonded to the damaged area of the tooth. A porcelain inlay, which is similar to a filling, is used inside the cusp tips of the tooth. A porcelain onlay is similar to the porcelain inlay but extends out over one or more of the cusps of the tooth to provide more strength to weakened teeth. Root Canal Treatment is needed when decay has progressed into the nerve of the tooth. Root Canal Treatment involves removal of the nerve from the center of a tooth and the dentist then proceeds to seal the roots closed. This can prevent the onset of a painful infection in the nerve that may spread into the bone and surrounding tissue. Root Canal Treatment can also treat an infection that has developed into a dental abscess.
