1. Decrease pimple outbreaks – Works great as an overnight application to prevent an impending zit or dry up an unsightly pimple. Place a small dab over the pimple and in the morning it will be smaller and less noticeable, or may not come at all.

2. Treatment of Cold Sores – Anecdotal evidence has shown that a small dab of toothpaste can help diminish the size and discomfort of a cold sore. This is the type of blister sore on the outer lip, not the white sores (apthous ulcers) in your mouth.

-GUM Plak-Chek. The Plak-Chek is a virtually invisible plaque disclosing system that works for both children and adults. This solution works under a special blue light which fluoresces the dye under light. In this system, the dye is invisible in natural light yet glows green on plaque covered tooth surfaces when illuminated by the hand held blue light. Kind of fun for kids, but more difficult to visualize and finish cleaning the remaining plaque.

-Listerine agent blue. This rinse can be used before or after tooth brushing. After rinsing with Listerine agent blue, kids will notice their teeth turning blue. This is important so kids can pay attention to removing all the blue tint as they brush. If they left any behind they know they need to go back and continue brushing. Works wonders for improving oral hygiene technique as well as self awareness for children of taking care of their own teeth. The blue discloser is not quite as “scary” looking as the bright red dyes.

This type of teeth whitening is definitely more expensive but the teeth whitening results are usually much more effective and achieved in a much faster amount of time. The concentration of the teeth whitening agent is much higher when used by a dentist and therefore will get better results in a shorter period of time.

Studies have shown that patients with yellow tones to their teeth respond best to teeth whitening, whereas gray and see through teeth do not. But this cosmetic procedure is not recommended for everyone. That is where teeth whitening strips come in. They are far less expensive than other options including in office teeth whitening treatments.

Teeth Whitening Strips – What Are They?

Teeth whitening strips are very thin, virtually invisible strips, that are coated with a mild peroxide based whitening gel.
